Rockstar Western Brings Out a Reluctant Cowboy!

reddead

Never have I been a Rockstar Games fan what with all the cop killing and prostitute beating of the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) franchise, but I am fast becoming  either an addicted fan or a social deviant peeking out of the proverbial closet. As a former World of Warcraft (WOW) guild master and waster of reality, gaming platforms such as the Sony Playstation and Microsoft X-Box have been dissappointing at best.  Aside from sports games that are SUPPOSED to have a definitive coin toss to touchdown, their offerings have been entirely too mapped out...too predetermined...bring the letter to … [Read more...]

Being Gay is So…Gay!

gay

The Fox News affiliate out of Houston, Texas has called for a "Fox in Focus" debate as to whether or not television has become "too gay." Primarily targeting gLee, a show owned by it's parent company. I know this seems counterproductive, but we ARE talking about Fox News here. I've always been intrigued by the fact that Fox has been traditionally known to be a line-crosser, a network that regularly pushes the envelope, but their subsidiary Fox News has always been so completely biased to the right. Playing both sides is the best way to make a buck I presume. Anyway, surrounding the … [Read more...]

Magic the Gathering and Oprah

magic

I must admit to my two major guilty pleasures, Magic the Gathering trading card game and Oprah. I understand that the first step is admitting the problem, although I guess this is going to be a looooong recovery because I consider neither a problem. I discovered Magic the Gathering (MTG) in college circa 1997 or so, before "emo" was a term. I noticed that in the evenings certain similarly dressed guys would be playing in the dorm lobby and I always wondered what it was they were doing. I dared not speak to any of these guys as not one piece of their garb bore the 3 Greek letters that I had … [Read more...]

Scrabble News!

scrabblllle

Scrabble has added  many new words to it's playable list which is bound to trouble more than a few Scrabble traditionalists. For instance, it appears that some slang will be getting its long awaited space on the rack. "Innit," though not used much in the States is a common phrase used in the U.K. meaning "isn't it." Personally I've only heard Sacha Baron Cohen's character Ali G use this phrase with any regularity. Other even lesser known words are "fiqh," meaning an expansion of Islamic law, and "webzine," meaning blogs. They have also included "facebook" in their list which is completely … [Read more...]

Viral MLK Quote Author Found

mlk

The following is an article by Alexis Madrigal, a senior editor at The Atlantic: Jessica Dovey did not intend to become the epicenter of an Internet-wide discussion about the nature of quotation, attribution, and Osama bin Laden. Yet that's exactly what happened when Dovey's Facebook-status sentiment -- "I will mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy" -- became entangled with a Martin Luther King, Jr. quote she also posted. Within a day and through no fault of her own, Dovey's words had gone viral, misattributed to … [Read more...]

Celebration of Death: bin Laden

pres

Martin Luther King Jr. said, "I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." I have to admit, this is how I feel. I have stated that if justice is a noble notion then the families of the victims of 09/11/2001 have deserved this day for a decade. That doesn't make me feel good about it though. I am not "happy" that our … [Read more...]

Mexico—One of the richest Countries in the World…really

mflag

I just recently returned from my honeymoon at a resort in Playa del Carmen in Mexico and I was shocked at what I saw. It was like being in America! Everyone spoke English, they served hamburgers and hotdogs, and mostly surprisingly, everything was clean! I thought I had been duped into believing that Mexico is one of the dirtiest, poorest countries in the world! It was beautiful! Then we left the resort... Yet again I was shocked at how different the Americanized resort was from the part of the country that we drove through to get to the airport near Cancun. It was as though people just … [Read more...]

The Avengers…2012

Avengers

The time is growing near and after watching IronMan 2 with my son this weekend, I began getting the Avenger itch! Below are the trailers of the movies that have led up to the big event beginning with The Avengers themselves on stage at Comic-Con! Enjoy! It's good to see them all together, no? Did you notice Mark Ruffalo in the group? Due to some drama between the filmmakers and Ed Norton, Ruffalo will be playing the role of Bruce Banner. Here is the 2008 Incredible Hulk Trailer: Marvel Studio's President Kevin Feige stated, "We have made the decision to not bring Ed Norton back to … [Read more...]

What Happened to God’s Wife?

3893651589_2d4ceab28b_z

Let us begin with some verifiable facts before we talk about the premise of God having a wife which may be a very sensitive subject for some readers. The Bible took approximately 1,500 years to write, beginning around 1450B.C. in the days of Moses and "finished", as we commonly understand it to be, somewhere around 100 A.D. It has been translated from it's original Hebrew, Aramaic, and some Greek to about 2,500 of the world's 7,000 languages. The Good Book, inspired by God, was written by over 40 different authors from many different backgrounds, from fishermen and farmers, to priests … [Read more...]

Dead Wrestlers

pastamania

No, Hulk Hogan is not dead, but I just couldn't resist that picture. Admittedly, I have not watched wrestling since I was a kid. Something changed. I'm not sure if it was my loss of innocence or if the business simply went a direction that I had no interest in. I remember when it was just plain fun and comprehendable. They were super heroes, larger than life and we looked up to them. Whether your favorite wrestler was a "face" or a "heel" didn't matter. Cartoonish were the personnas with names like The Junkyard Dog, or The Big Boss Man. What happened between then and now where … [Read more...]

Couponing FAQ

Question Mark

If you have any questions about couponing, here is the place to let them fly. Ask in the comments section and I will do my best to answer as soon as possible!   Katie @ Yoga Gal says: May 12, 2011 at 12:33 pm • My question is regarding store brand versus the non-store brand. I look at all the available coupons on Kroger.com and automatically load them on my Kroger plus card, but it seems that the store brand is still cheaper and you don’t have to buy four of one thing to get the savings! Also, when you coupon do you shop weekly biweekly or monthly? Because I shop … [Read more...]

The Adjustment Bureau

the-adjustment-bureau-wallpapers_1680x1050_matt-damon

The Adjustment Bureau, loosely based on the similarly titled short story "Adjustment Team," is written for the screen and directed by first time director George Nolfi. Matty Damon as David Norris, a New York politician that can be both the face of leadership and the frat-boy in all of us, runs around the city like he is Jason Bourne or something. Oh wait-- George Nolfi also wrote The Bourne Ultimatum, my least favorite of the series. Its as though Damon somehow wronged Nolfi in another life and is constantly paying his penance by running around the world's cities for the amusement of the … [Read more...]

The Worst Companies in America

Well it's March Madness time and you know what that means! It means the 6th annual compilation of the worst companies in America have been released by The Consumerist Magazine. Comcast has been the undisputed belt holder for 2010, but who could be next?? Above are the brackets that will be used to determine this year's winner...er, loser...champion of this contest! Could it be AT&T for waiting until now to release their kung-fu grip on the iPhone, or maybe the beloved facebook for their lack of privacy concerns. Or could Comcast take it to the final 2 and defend their title against Dish … [Read more...]

Fries vs. Bologna

fathead

Morgan Spurlock...Spurlock, hmm, it has a nice sound to it. Maybe Olivia will let me name our first born Spurlock. It's doubtful. Anyway, I recently watched the counterpoint documentary to Spurlock's Super Size Me and was actually surprised at how much I sided with the "new" points of view. Fat Head, not to be confused with a giant sports wall sticking thing, attempts to lick the icing on the proverbial cake of misinformation. Comedian Tom Naughton took on this project in 2009 vowing to eat nothing but McDonald's food three times a day for 30 days and still lose weight.  Here is the … [Read more...]
